Summer Hair Challenge: Days 22-26

Hey Girls!
Sorry I am so late in posting these pictures! I have been busy getting ready for my trip! Just a quick reminder, I will not be posting pictures from July 8th through the 19th. I will be gone on a trip, so I will post those when I get back.
The pictures for today are some that you could wear to the office, others to the beach, and one I love because it only takes about a minute to get ready. Let me know what you think of these hairstyles, and post comments, post comments, post comments!!!
Have an awesome day!
~Kaylen

 Day 22:
This is a super fast hairstyle that takes only a couple of seconds for some people, and for others like me (with hopelessly straight and texture-less hair) this may take a little bit longer.
Thick/Texturized hair:
1. Pull your hair back into a ponytail and secure with a large hair binder.
2. Tease your ponytail a little to add extra volume.

Thin/No-Texture hair:
1. Spray all of your hair with hairspray (or other texture adding product) to add a little texture to your hair.
2.Gather your hair into a ponytail at the middle or upper part of the back of your head. Leave some volume at the front of your head.
3. Go a little crazy with the teasing you do to the hair in your ponytail
4.Spray with hairspray.

 Day 23:
This is a fun hairstyle that I found on Modcloth.com (they also sell some of the most cute/gorgeous/fabulous/amazing clothing and accessories I have ever seen! I got a dress there and I get compliments on it all the time)
The link is right here: ~~~~~~~~~>Click HERE
I added a ribbon to add a little bit of vintage-y-ness!

 Day 24:
This is a hairstyle you could wear to the office because it has a very  smooth, sophisticated yet creative look to it.

 1. Section off the hair in front of your ear, and gather and twist the rest of your hair into a bun at the lower/middle of the back of your head. (Refer to the top picture for what I'm talking about in this step if you don't understand.)
2. Pull the rest of your hair back and start braiding it about three inches from behind your ear. (refer to the second picture)
3. Wrap the braid around the bun you created in the first step and pin in place.

 Day 25:
This is another hairstyle you can definitely do for any sort of formal event if you want a pulled back, sophisticated yet simple type of look.

 1. Create a deep side part on one side of your head.
2. Section your hair into three sections and clamp/bobby pin/bind the front two sections of your hair out of the way.
3.Take the back section and pull it into a super smooth ponytail at the base of your head. (be super careful when you put the ponytail holder in to make sure that you don't get random bumps in your hair.
4. Twist your hair in the ponytail into a bun (Not a messy bun!)
5. Take the left section and twist it very lightly and twist around the first bun. Pin in place.(make sure the front lays super flat with the middle section!)
6. Do the same thing with the right section, making sure everything lays flat and smooth against everything else.
7. Spray the whole hairstyle with hairspray (you can use a smoothing
product too to add to the effect)

 Day 26:
This is a great hairstyle to go with all of the super hot days we have been having all over the USA. It keeps your hair off your face and neck,  keeps you cool, and looks super cute!
 1. Section off a small area of hair from the right side of your head (and I mean really small, like, about 3 centimeters big)
2. start a french braid, but skip every other time you are supposed add hair. this will define the sections you added. Also, make sure the you grab larger sections so that you add enough to make up for the length of the braid.
3. Continue braiding until you get to the back of your head, but make sure you keep the braid on the top of your head.
4. Gather all of your hair and twist into a bun
5.Pin in place and enjoy the beach or something equally
                                                    fabulous!

Summer Hair Challenge: Days 18-21

Hey Girls! I hope you had a great week! This week, I did a couple of simple hairstyles, a "no hairstyle day", and a day that I had a long time to work on my hair, so I had curly hair! I hope you like these hairstyles! Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send in requests and comments!!! I need to know how I am doing, even if you don't like my blog, just let me know how I can improve it! Thanks!

Have a great day!
~Kaylen

 Day 18
This was my "No Hairstyle"- Hairstyle Day. So basically all I did was just wash my hair and put in the normal products I use. My hair is naturally straight, so I don't use any straightening products.

Products I use for everyday-hairstyles:
1. Herbal Essences: "Hydralicious" Featherweight Shampoo and Conditioner.
2. Paul Mitchell:  "The Conditioner" (leave in conditioner)
3. Fantastic Style: Nourishing Serum
4. Herbal Essences: "Set Me Up" Mousse

 Day 20
This is a fun hairstyle that I did when I had over an hour to do my hair. The reason it took me so long to do was because my hair is super long. It takes a long time to do anything with my hair that involves heat.

1. Using a cone shaped curling iron (heated to 410 degrees), wrap large sections of hair around the barrel of the iron, and hold for a few seconds until you get loose waves. Do this for all of your hair.
2. Take smaller sections (even though you've already curled it) and wrap them around the smaller part of the barrel at different spots on your hair. Do this for the top layer, but make
sure it is random, so it doesn't look uniform and
                                                               boring.
                                                                 3. Also, when you curl the front sections of your
hair, make sure that you curl your hair away
                                                                 from your face.

Day 18
This is a quick hairstyle, that takes a little bit of time, but it is great for summer because this hairstyle keeps your hair off your face and your neck. A way to alter this hairstyle is to mush the braids together once they meet up and braid them together.
 1. Start french braiding from just in front of your ear on the right side of your head. Make sure you pull the braid toward the back of your head the whole time so you don't get a chicken head! :)
2. Continue the braid diagonally until you reach the bottom of the opposite side of your head and braid normally for a couple of inches. Secure the braid so it doesn't unravel while you do the other braid.
3. Start at the parting on the left side of your hair, and french braid the rest of your hair until you run out of hair to add to the braid (by this time you should be next to the first braid you made.
4. Pull the two braids together and secure with a large elastic that is similar to your hair color.

 Day 21
This is the hairstyle I did today. It doesn't take much time It is basically made out of four braids that are super stretched out.

1. Section off the hair that is two inches back from the front of your face. Secure the hair that is not in the section into a ponytail for the time being.
2. Separate both of the sections (one on each side of your face) into two more. Now you should have four sections, with two on each side of your face.
3. Braid all of the sections about half way down and secure with small elastics.
4. Pull down the small elastic about an inch and use that extra
hair to loosen and widen the braids.
                                         5. Take the ponytail out, and bring all of the braids to the back of
your head, and secure with another small elastic.
                                           6. Remove the other small elastics you had in your hair.

Summer Hair Challenge: Days 13-17

Hey Girls! I hope you had a great Father's Day weekend! Here's the days I didn't have a chance to post! I have a couple that are great for adding a little bit of a fancy twist to one of my favorite styles to do in my hair! Let me know on the poll on the left of the page what hairstyles you like, and then I will try to add more of those in my pictures! See you girls later!
Have an awesome day!
~Kaylen

 Day 13:
This hairstyle is a fun, semi-casual hairstyle that takes only a minute or so. Its a great way to take your hairstyle from casual to something you could wear to a dinner if you spent more time on it!
 1. Section off your hair from the middle of your head on the top part and pull it away from the hair at the back crown part of your head.
2. Tease the hair at the back crown part of your head like there's no tomorrow... or until you get the desired height.
3. Take the section that you made first and bring it back to lay over the super teased hair.
4. Pull all of your hair back into a ponytail at the top-middle of the back of your head/.
5. Loosen the top part of your ponytail with your fingers and "comb" through the top to give it a more separated feel.
                                                   6. Take a section about 1/2 inch big from your ponytail
and braid it to the ends of the hair, but leave room for
                                                   loosening the braid.
                                                   7. loosen the braid and secure with a small elastic.
                                                   8. Wrap the braid around the base of the ponytail, and pin
into place just behind the hair binder that is holding the
                                                   ponytail.

 Day 14:
This hairstyle kind of reminds me of the renaissance. It is a hairstyle that uses small braids to create a kind of crown, and the hair swept over it is great for keeping your hair off you face during the hot summer days.
 1. Take a small (1 inch-1/2 inch) section from near the back of your head on both sides of your head and braid to the ends as far as you can.
2. Section your hair from in front of where your braids start and pull the braids over the parts. Bobby pin the braids in place by pinning the ends under the other braid.
3. Pull the hair from in front of the braids to the back of your head and secure with a small hair binder.
 Day 15:
This is kind of like the up-do version of the Katniss braid except you french braid instead of a dutch braid. Basically you just pull the hair back along the direction you braided from after you've finished braiding to the end of your hair.
 1. french braid from the top left side of your head to the area just below your right ear. Braid regularly until you reach the ends of your hair.
2. Pull the hair you braided regularly back along the french braid you just made.
3. Wind your hair back and forth as many times as it takes to get to the end of your braid and pin in place.

 Day 16:
This is almost exactly like the day 13 hairstyle I did, but instead of braiding the hair that you sectioned from the ponytail, you just twist it around the base of the ponytail and pin it in place. Also, for this one I didn't tease my hair at all.
 Day 17:
This is a fun hairstyle for going to the pool. you can twist the hair and put it in a bun to keep it off your neck for particularly hot days or if you don't want your hair to get wet.

1. Make an extreme side part on one side of your head.
2. Using all of the hair from the front top part of your head to the crown of your head, start a dutch braid.
3. Dutch braid all of your hair to just below your ear. Make sure you don't add hair from the opposite side of your head until you get to about half way down your head.
4. Secure the braid/ponytail with a small elastic.

Summer Hair Challenge: Days 10-12

Hey Girls! I hope you've had an awesome summer so far! I have the last three days of the Summer Hair Challenge here, so check them out! I had a little extra time to do my hair this morning so it's one that you could wear on a day you feel like doing something a little more fancy with your hair. The other two are great too because you can dress them up or down, and they don't take much time at all!
Have an awesome day!
~Kaylen

Day 10:
This is a simple french braid that I talked about in my first video, the only difference about this french braid and any other french braid is that on the right I took the hair from in front of my ear and made it into a four strand braid, and then I added it into the french braid along with the rest of the hair I needed to add in.

1. Take the hair from in front of your hair on one side of your head and braid it in a four strand braid. Make sure you are pulling the hair toward the middle of the back of your head or you'll get a weird pouf when you add it in. (Leave out until you are told to add it in later.)
2.  French braid your hair starting at the crown of your head. ( for those of you who don't know how to french braid, it is simple, just start out with three strands like a regular braid, and then add in hair to the section every time you cross over the middle section.)
3. When you get to the area where the four strand
braid seems like it should enter into the braid, add it  with the
rest of the hair you would add into the braid.
                                             4. Braid normally until you get to the base of your
head, and secure with a small elastic.

 Day 11:
This is an awesome hairstyle that saved me from showing how my ears looked like a pair of lobsters. Doing a low side ponytail is a great way to save your ears from getting sun-burned, or if they are already sun-burned, then you can use it to cover up your poor ears. You can also dress this hairstyle up like I did in the picture by adding flowers.

1. Gather hair to one side of your head
2. Secure with a hair binder. (you can add flowers too.)

 Day 12:
This is a semi-fancy hairstyle that doesn't take very long, but looks great when you're done!
This uses the four strand braid that is the same as the one I had in Day 10. Except I added more hair into the braid. To add to the semi-messy effect I didn't make a straight part for the braid. If you wanted to make this more of a formal bun you could spend more time making the bun more smooth and make the part straight.

1. Section off the hair from somewhere behind your ear, but not past the crown of your head. Braid that section into a four strand braid.
2. Gather your hair into a (you guessed it) pony tail at the top/middle of your head.
3. Section out the longest part of your ponytail and braid it into a three strand braid.
4. Section out another piece about as thick as the braid you just made.
5. Separate into two sections and use those as two parts of a three strand braid. Braid the braid with the two smaller sections. Secure with a small elastic.
6. Twist the hair in your ponytail into a bun and secure with bobby pins.
7. Wrap the braid that was separated from the ponytail around the base of the bun.
8. Take the four strand braid and wrap it around the bun pulling across the back of the head underneath the bun first.

You have to accept whatever comes along and the only important thing is that you meet it with  the best you have to give.

Summer Hair Challenge: Days 7-9

Hey Girls! I hope you're having an awesome summer so far! I am sorry I haven't had any time to post these pictures during the last couple of days, but here they are now, so enjoy!
Have an amazing day!
~Kaylen

 Day 7:
This is the hairstyle I did on Friday. It is a simple ponytail with a rope braid. It is a super quick hairstyle that takes only a minute. seriously!
1.  To start, gather your hair into a ponytail somewhere on your head (this can be the middle, side, top, anywhere).
2. Separate your hair into two sections and twist them both (but not together) in the same direction.
3. twist the two sections together in the opposite direction you were twisting them in before.
 Day 8:
This is the hairstyle I did yesterday, I had to wake up super early again, so this hairstyle is one that won't take very long to do. It once again uses a ponytail as its base.
 1. Gather your hair into a ponytail at an area somewhere on your head.
2. Separate your hair into three sections and use them to create a simple three strand braid and secure with a small elastic.
3. Wrap your braid around the base of the ponytail.
4. Secure with bobby pins.

 Day 9:
This is a hairstyle I found recently by the same hairstyle guru as one of my hairstyle's I posted on here before. (LetsMakeitUp1)
It's the ponytail that Blake Lively wore a while ago and I thought It was really cute.
I love the way she explains this, so you just have to watch her video because I can't even try to explain it by typing the words.

Summer Hair Challenge: Day 6

Hey Girls! Here is today's hairstyle! This hairstyle is great for summer because it doesn't take very long and it looks super fancy when you're done, It can take you only minutes to go from the beach or poolside to a fancy dinner. This hairstyle is made by simply gathering all of your hair into a ponytail at the back of your head, and twisting sections tightly and then rolling it up on it's self into individual buns. If this explanation didn't make sense check out this tutorial made by one of my favorite hair Youtube blogging people... so click here ~~>LINK!!
This hairstyle works best on wet hair so it will stay the entire day, if you don't use wet hair be sure to use a lot of hairspray! I must warn you though, the more sections you use, the more bobby pins you will need, so keep that in mind. my hairstyle took quite a few bobby pins, and I have done this before with only 10, but mine took much more than that today. Think about placing 2 bobby pins in your hair for each section, then figure out how many you will need. I hope this hairstyle isn't too complicated! See you tomorrow!

Have an amazing day!

Summer Hair Challenge: Days 3-5

Hey Girls, Sorry I haven't posted any videos or pictures, I have been trying to work through the technical difficulties, and so far all I have gotten to work is the camera. So I am going to post the pictures from the days you missed so that you can see what I did. They aren't very fancy because I have had to wake up and get going early in the morning lately, so hopefully they don't need a super long description. I am continuing to try to fix my video camera and I will post a video as soon as I get it working again! Until then I will post pictures with descriptions.
Have a great day!
~Kaylen

These three pictures are what I wore to work, It's a simple hairstyle with a Baseball hat, and a pony tail with two different types of braids. One is a simple three strand braid, and the other is a braid that I kind of made up when I was first trying to figure out the fishtail braid last year.

 *Fancy Non-Fishtail Braid Steps:
1. Take your hair and separate into two sections.
2. Take a small section from the underside of each section and cross them over each other in the middle. Do NOT add them to the opposite section!
3. Take a small section from the larger section that had hair crossed over it's section. Then add it to make the beginning of a simple braid.
4. Treat the braid in the middle like a french braid, adding hair as you braid.
5. Secure with a small elastic band.
6. Show off your fabulous style!
These two pictures on the right are of a ponytail I did yesterday.  They are easy to understand with practice, and they add a pretty flare to a simple ponytail.
1. French Braid the top half of your hair and braid normally for a few inches. Secure with an elastic.
2. Upside down french braid your hair (easiest done when your head is parallel to the floor or hair is upside down) until you use the rest of the hair.
3. Then gather the two sections and put them in a large hair-binder.
4. Take out the small elastic that was holding the top section.
The two pictures on the Left are pictures of the hairstyle I have today. This hairstyle is done by doing a french braid. But you don't add in hair every time, you skip a section every other time you are supposed to add hair.

1. Do the braid while making sure it stays close to the front of your head.
2. Braid normally a few inches and secure with a small elastic band
3. Secure all hair over to one side of your head using a large hair-binder.
4. Remove the small elastic
